Forget Me Not, Stacy Willingham

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Stacy Willingham always delivers a unique thriller with twists and turns that are surprising, but not completely out of the blue. Her talent in creating desperate female main characters who are ready to do whatever it takes to get answers creates compelling and gripping plots that stick with you long after you’ve finished the book.

Forget Me Not follows Claire on a hunt for more answers about her sister’s disappearance (and probable death) 20 years earlier. Throwing caution to the wind while unemployed for a summer, Claire dives right into where her sister Natalie’s life ended. She takes a summer job that Natalie had at an isolated but beautiful vineyard owned by a man named Mitchell. Then she finds the diary of an 18-year-old girl, and becomes obsessed with it.

Claire pieces together that the diary was written by Mitchell’s wife, Marcia, back when she was a teenager. As Claire reads on, she becomes convinced there’s something sinister going on at the farm, and begins to desperately scour the place for more answers. The tension heightens in every chapter to an absolutely engrossing finale.

I started this audiobook at the beginning of a work day, and came home to my Book of the Month copy waiting by my door. I opened it right up and finished the book before bed. And if that’s not a testament to this book’s thriller pacing, nothing is! I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes crime thrillers, cults with a Charles Manson edge, and anyone who likes Willingham’s books!

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the free advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review!
