“Andromeda Wildwood is practically perfect in every witch way. However, when Annie is tasked by her coven with mentoring a troubled teenage witch, her charmed existence is thrown into chaos. Will Annie risk everything to protect the true magic she’s finally found?”
Uncharmed by Lucy Jane Wood
I adored the wicchey world Wood created in her first book, Rewitched, and was so excited to dive back into the same magical world again with Annie! Annie is practically perfect (literally, she does a hex every single night to make sure she is.) She runs an adorable bakery, Celestial Bakehouse, and has two sweet shop assistants, Pari & Faye. At home, she has a gorgeous white cat named Karma and an impossibly pink wardrobe. She goes on first dates every week, and wearily reports back to her other wicche friends who set her up.
As Annie’s life starts to change, then goes into full chaos mode, I was so excited! Annie was so burnt out and stressed that it oozed off the page. As she connects with a teenager, Maeve, and takes over her magical education, Annie finds herself in the middle of the woods, sharing a tiny cottage with Maeve and later Hal, a cowboy-pirate-looking warlock. The sass and banter, along with sweet treats described on every page, was a cozy magical delight.
This book is technically a standalone from Rewitched, but both books would be great picks as we head into the fall months. There’s years of magic society oppression to fight, and there’s also gooey cinnamon buns and flocks of wildlife creatures to coo at! So if you’re looking for some pink, sparkly, fun, this is the book for you!
