“Set against the dazzling backdrop of ultimate luxury and an endless reveal of surprises, A Killer Wedding is a fast–paced, humorous mystery that proves you’ll never forget your wedding day…especially if it starts with a murder.”
A Killer Wedding, by Joan O’Leary
As a fan of murder mysteries and all luxury wedding gossip, this book immediately grabbed my attention! It follows Christine, a girl in her 20s working her way up the ladder at Bespoke, a well-known bridal magazine. Through some scheming, Christine finds herself at an Irish castle, reporting on the wedding of the year. After the family matriarch is murdered during the wedding week festivities, the family decides to keep her death a secret, and they rope Christine into their deceit. And Christine begins to unravel all the lies she’s been told.
I really liked the pacing and overall plot of this book. There was a mix of present-day and past timelines, with multiple POVs included. I enjoyed collecting all the clues and trying to put them together on my own, but also appreciated the explanation at the end that gave me even more answers.
I absolutely loved the over-the-top luxury of the wedding, the shamelessness of the wealthy family, and the opulent drama of the book. Christine was a fantastic main character, with a cynical and biting inner monologue. I also enjoyed the family matriarch, Gloria. Between the two women, the majority of the book was a quick and fun read. Some of the other characters, mostly the men, got a little flat and under-developed, but the overall story was exciting and captivating.
I’d recommend this to anyone who loves murder mysteries and upper-echelon scheming and drama!
